State media and security forces — these are the two pillars propping up Lukashenko’s regime. They brought him to power and have unlawfully kept him there for 30 years.

The year 2020 and the wave of massive peaceful protests revealed a crack in the propaganda machine. Many belarusians broke free from the grip of state-controlled television, turned to Telegram and YouTube, and found alternative sources of information. The regime couldn't come to terms with this shift: as a result, all independent media in Belarus were completely wiped out, with exiled editorial teams being branded as extremists.

At the same time, state media tightened its grip, made attempts to dominate the internet, and gave propagandists a free hand—unleashing them like dogs off their leash.

While the quality of propaganda is highly questionable, it must be acknowledged: it works. But the magic fades once you understand the mechanics behind it.

We’ve created a series of materials for both older and younger audiences, dissecting the “favorite topics” of propagandists and exposing the points where they lose all sense of reason.
